Cielito Lindo is an iconic piece of Baja history, originally built by Hollywood producer Mark Armistead over a half century ago and a popular getaway retreat for Hollywood celebrities like John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, John Huston and other popular television and movie stars from the 50’s and 60’s. Today it is a hotel, restaurant and bar providing spaces for overnight and long term RV parking and camping. Located just outside of the San Quintin Bay, guests are treated to a wonderful beachfront experience where Sand Dollars are everywhere and the prevailing afternoon onshore breezes provide San Diego like weather.
Armistead sold Cielito Lindo in 1975 to Juanita Fitzpatrick when the new Transpeninsular Highway officially opened making the place seem to “accessible.”
Juanita did a good job when she took over the operations and under her management the restaurant has become famous for their cracked crab dinner as well as their powerful margaritas from their bar. The rooms today are clean and reasonably priced.
