In a male dominated sport this pair of ladies are turning up the heat on the guys fishing out of the Old Mill here at the San Quintin Bay.
The bay at San Quintin is one of the largest along the Pacific west coast and home to world class, saltwater sportfishing, attracting anglers from all over the world to try their luck – but no secret there.
What may surprise you is to find out that this sport in which men often brag about their exploits – perhaps even exaggerate a time or two 😉 – now find themselves being measured up against a pair of local women whose fishing conquests are well documented on the pages of social media these days.
In these local waters so rich in marine life, there are actually several women in our area that I could name who like to fish – with great success at times – but these two in particular stand out: Susan Duggan and Jen Farnsworth Jessop.

Susan and Jen are friends and at times even fish together with Susan having the advantage of more experience.; she’s definitely got game.
Jen however, has been putting in a lot of hours on the water recently and the results have been impressive as she steps up her game and beginning to put some pressure on Susan. However knowing both of them, I’d be willing to bet they enjoy the friendly rivalry and especially knowing they both are showing up a lot of the guys.
So next time you happen to be in the San Quintin area to try your luck at fishing and just happen to see either of these “Fishing Femme Fatales” at the Old Mill dock or perhaps even out on the water, be sure to give them their due respect.
And pay attention, they just might teach even an old angler a thing or two…
Impressive array! Go girls!
I’m so glad that these ladies have been so honored. I’m very proud of them. They are both very talented friends and neighbors. The best part is they love the sport.
